There's a lot of F bombs in this post for various reasons, and why wouldn't there be? It's the holidays!! So if you find it offensive, don't click on the interactive things. :)
Yeah, so I've been watching the news a lot lately and it seems like my fellow American citizens are all up in arms about holiday nomenclature. Christmas? Hanukah? Chanukah? Kwanzaa? What's going on? Ok, before I go on that rant, I've decided to make my blog a little bit more interactive for the holiday season. For those of you who'd like to have a Happier Hanukah, I ask that you
click here for some Chanukah Cheer.
This little flash animation kinda says it all too:

Hey Cholo,
Merry Christmas.
Hey Paul,
The Christmas caroling thing is a continuing plot by the Christian Coalition to bring attention to things that aren't a problem to anyone but them (to make them the 'victims,' as they like to be).
Since the CC has Michael Powell as a cheerleader (head of FCC), and with the Janet Jackson and Desperate Housewives "outrage" that occured, the US media loves to talk about the "lack of moral values" in the US, because then they get a shit-ton of letters from the same evangelicals cheering them on (and in the latter case, yelling at them if they don't talk about it).
So if some single secularist townie wants the school to stop singing Xmas carols, the media is all over it (with their CC cheerleaders), but if Walmart is screwing every lower-middle class American out of a living wage because of their supply strategy (Chinese labor) taking away jobs, which then lowers prices, which attracts the jobless to shop there, which continues the loss-of-jobs cycle, then the media doesn't say a word to inform those folks how they are shooting themselves in the foot.
But someone doesn't like Handel's Messiah in schools?!! To the anchor desk, Williams! We've got work to do.
Also, Fox news isn't a 'news network,' its an 'entertainment network,' as the defense given and won by Fox news in their case Fox vs. Akre in Florida of 2000. Lemme find a link...

There's one. Here's my favorite quote from this report:
["The Court of Appeals, in its six page written decision, held that the Federal Communications Commission's position against news distortion is only a "policy", not a
promulgated law, rule or regulation.
Fox aired a report after the ruling was handed down, saying that it was "totally vindicated" by the verdict.]
I realize the site is left-leaning, but they reprint law articles in their entirety.
Anyway, nice blog. Don't watch the news in this country while you're in Kabul, it will just make you sad.
Now feel free to mock my tree-hugging, atheist, conspiracy-theorist (Peak Oil only, mind you) ass.
Cory
Cory,
Why would I mock you?? You bring up a lot of good points.. Besides, I have Kabul Joe to mock 'til my eyes bleed.
